krrkeekkkrrrrrrkrrrr

So whom ever decided that these CD's were ready to send out Surely didn't listen to them. After the first 5min, which is quite enjoyable, there is static....not subtle static BUT crazy static.
I've done this type of exercise before. Long ago when I was a Sophmore in College our psychology professor would give us extra credit if we would stay after class and participate in quieting our mind. I loved it! Then of course I would end up falling asleep.
This exercise I could more easily do then the last unit. I have an existing biological thing to grasp onto- the breath. Where as last unit it was a lot to do with the imagination....and when my imagination gets going BOY does it go. So being able to follow my breath wasn't too hard. Of course my mind does wander now and then, but it is simple to bring it back to the breath.
Spiritual wellness is connected to mental and physical wellness. If all have been reading the text we see that studies have proven this. The use of prayer to help heal someone is a good example. Or how thoughs people that believe in a higher being (or a more connectedness of life) are less likely to be depressed and find joy in simple activities.
I am currently working on my mental and spritual wellness'. I know that in times of loss that I do turn toward trying to see the "bigger picture" and I think to myself- there must be a reason, there's always a reason. This seems to help me and take that sadness away for a time.
P.S. It is very easy to quiet my mind if I take a moment out of the day just to watch my daughter, not think about what she is doing, but just watch....my mind goes still.

  1. That static was a JOLT to say the least! LoL!

I have the tendency to nod off during these exercises at times. Well most times actually. My understanding after many of our readings is that I am also out of control at these times too! I’m either at one end of the spectrum of consciousness or the other, and the ‘balance’ is in the center somewhere… Practice, practice, practice! Let’s face it, if it were easy there wouldn’t be classes over it right?!?

    Have a blessed day!

  2. Aly,
You and I are spiritual sister, I know it! I had the same experience with my CD and I was really frustrated by that.

I have to say, I really enjoying doing this exercise than the one last week. Like you said, it was much easier to bring your mind back to something a little more concrete, like you breathing.

I agree with you that it is pure joy to watch your children play, not yelling at them, but just to enjoy them for what they are doing. Children truly are a blessing!

  3. I most definitely agree with you. At first I thought there was something wrong with my cd player. That was certainly not a relaxing and enjoyable sound. The Loving Kindness CD was much better.

  4. Aly,
I agree that they need to check these CD's before sending them out. That static sure takes away from your relaxed state of mind.
I too agree that it is much eaiser to follow the breath. I think focusing on something then having to visualzie and use the creative mind helps me to quiet the mind. The exercises have been very helpful and I just hope I can keep up with them after the class has ended.

  5. I WAS IKE HOLY MOLLY, IT STARTED OUT SO NICE AND CALM LIKE THE OVING KINDNESS AND I WAS SO INTO IT. THEN WOW!! THAT GOSH AWFULL NOICE HIT ME AND GOT ON MY LAST NERVE. I OVE THE WAVES AND THE OTHER SOFT SOUNDS BUT THAT NOICE WAS TERRIBE. I TOOK THE CD OUT AND WANTED TO BREAK IT. I DID NOT BUT IT WAS NOTHING LIKE THE OTHERS I LISTEN TO. THEY SURE DO NEED TO MAKE SURE THINGS ARE GOOD WITH THE CD. I SWEAR I REALY THOUGHT IT WAS BROKE.

  6. I guess we all have been sent of the wrong CD. The static and not the wellness CD :).
By the way, your angel is soooooo pretty, like mommy:). I agree with you, there is a reason for every thing that happens in our life. We can not see it right away but in the long run we understand why such thing happened to us. We just have to have faith and every thing will be alright. I remember when I have to break up with my first boyfriend because my mother let me choose, school or get marry. I was young then and I do not want to get marry yet, I just want to have a boyfriend. But of course, mommy rules so, I chose school. I thought it was the end of the world for me, looking back now, I said, thank goodness mommy was there to stop me :)..Talk to you soon.

  7. Hey Aly,
Watching the kids play is a great relaxation technique, especially when they are not watching. Watching their innocence and watching them learn gives me such a great feeling. When I look at them, I often think, "I created that...that is so awesome!" Having kids is the greatest gift imaginable. What funny though, we say our kids relax us and clears our minds, but then it all changes the minute they notice you watching them or when they are screaming for milk, juice, or food...then it's not so relaxing anymore...lol

    Have a Great Day!

  8. Ok, glad to hear it was the CD and not my computer! Of course when it happens several times in a row, you gotta kind of figure that. I kept thinking it was a lot like when I'm on the tread mil and having to keep my breathing steady. It was easier than the loving kindness.
